A SAMPLE FROM WRITERS
(a.k.a. Every season I'll showcase great artists I know.
Let me introduce you to names you may not know--
but whose stories and works you'll treasure)

#1: Editor and novelist Rakesh Satyal's No One Can Pronounce My Name and award-winning Blue Boy

#2 Kara Vernor's Because I Wanted to Write You a Pop Song (also an award winner). I've never heard more laughter at a reading than at Vernor's book release party. She writes some of the best flash fiction you'll ever read.

#3 Many of us met Jamel Brinkley along the way in our juried workshops. One of the strongest writers out there. You will be hearing about this book, released in May 2018 from Graywolf Press: Lucky Man Stories

#4 Screenwriter and writing buddy Yasemin Yilmaz. Founder of the Los Angeles Turkish Film Festival.

#5 Variny Yim's moving story The Immigrant Princess. At her book launch, I've rarely seen such a packed room, had so much fun at a reading, or been in a room so full of love--love that Yim radiates and supports in all around her (and we love the amazing woman and devoted writer, too); love embedded in her humorous characters. She had truly a one of a kind story that will break your heart--and show you how to come through.
